Hi, I'm Beck!
A 21-year-old student, writer, communications professional, aspiring content creator, and (perhaps above all) storyteller. For me, storytelling is the threads connecting me back to the world and its people. Connection doesn't come easily, especially as an autistic person, but when I open myself to others and center their stories in both my mind and my work, I find that my own story is inexplicably entangled.Like a moth, I am drawn to what lives inside of people and the societies we create and inhabit. My ultimate goal is to expose the light I see in others to audiences far and wide, illuminating our shared yet distinct human experiences and encouraging us all to be more open to each other.
STAR Scholars Highlights
July - September 2024 | Drexel University College of Engineering
☆ STEM communication, higher ed, human-driven storytellingDuring my second co-op at Drexel, I was tasked with profiling three STAR scholars, exceptional first-year students engaging in advanced research, from the College of Engineering.I worked with each student individually to highlight their research projects and the ways that the STAR program allowed them to tackle research challenges, collaborate with faculty, and plan their futures with greater clarity and purpose.Although an English major, I leveraged my previous background as a biomedical engineering student to better relate to the students’ unique challenges and craft prose that honored the complexity of their research while making it (and their journeys in the program) accessible to a wider audience.
This project further solidified my passion for listening to and representing other people's stories. With complex engineering research at the core, I adapted to a more technical style of communication, an asset I know will serve me well in future higher education projects.
